Rotterdam, May 26th 1982, will be remembered by every Aston Villa fan as the most dramatic and glorious day in the club's history. After 10 minutes, a neck injured forced off keeper Jimmy Rimmer. Reserve goalie Nigel Spink came on and gave the display of his life. Halfway though the second half winger Tony Morley beat two players and centred for England striker Peter Withe. His slide-rule shot went in off the post and Villa had conquered favourites Bayern Munich to become the best in all of Europe.
