Adopted by
Everton as his official audio biography, these albums document the
life and career of the world's greatest-ever centre forward. Taking
three years to compile and produce, this has been has been a labour
of love for Broadcaster and Journalist John Keith. Featuring
exclusive interviews with Dixie and his contemporaries, it is a
fascinating slice of sporting history in the early part of the 20th
century.
The tapes cover
his early childhood, his years at 'Tranmere Rovers' and also the hit
music of those years. Dixie's illustrious career for England and
Everton, including the season he scored 100 first-class goals (yes
100!) is comprehensively recorded.
Bill Dean was a
larger-than-life character with a great sense of humour who later
became a popular publican. 60 minutes

A look at the history of
football will reveal that the most successful club in the history of
the game is none other than Everton F.C. Their history and
achievements during their 100-year sojourn make fascinating
listening as BBC Radio Merseyside's Mike Hughes provides a guided
tour of their unparalleled achievements. In recent years,
flirtations with relegation have been frequent and undoubtedly
passionate and intense. In the early century, the record of the
legendary Dixie Dean laid foundations for all that was to follow.
Later, in the sixties, the
country's finest midfield trio of Kendall, Harvey and Ball swept all
before them with championships and cups. The only regret was that
their greatest modern team was denied European competition by the
unfortunate events at Heysel.
With the advent of striker
Wayne Rooney and with a bright future beckoning, this album is a
runaway best-seller. 55 minutes |
