Carrying detailed interviews with the leading players from the
greatest years in the history of the club, this is a recording never
before released, and since the sad loss of Billy Bremner, will never
be repeated. The former captain joined Norman Hunter, Alan Clarke
and Peter Lorimer to reminisce and
enjoy those great seasons in the late sixties and early seventies
when Leeds were the most feared team in Britain and Europe.
Their success was
guided by ex-International Don Revie, a plain speaking Yorkshireman
who won the respect of everybody in the game - and particularly the
Anfield bootroom where Shankly and Revie became bitter rivals on the
pitch. Off the field, it was all reversed and the respect and
obvious affection for Revie the man was also carried through to his
fabulous squad, which at its height featured 14 current
International players.
The humour and
camaraderie on the tape is easily apparent as the players all agree
that the achievements of Don Revie, even though he was poached to become England
manager, were never fully appreciated. We hope that these historic
recordings, including comments from Shankly and other managers, will
rectify that.
